Due to the fact that a semi truck flipped over at a key intersection on South Carolina State Route 170 on Wednesday afternoon, traffic was halted for several hours in Beaufort and Jasper counties as crews cleaned up the mess and sought to move the vehicle.
When the collision occurred at around 3:45 p.m. near the intersection of South Carolina State Highway 170 (Okatie Highway) and South Carolina State Highway 462 (Lowcountry Drive), a significant amount of dirt and debris was thrown onto the roadway.
As of six o’clock in the evening, traffic on southbound South Carolina State Route 170 was still confined to the left lane in the vicinity of the accident, and the highway’s exit with South Carolina State Route 462 was totally closed. Crews that were responsible for towing remained at the scene, and two dumpster haulers were utilized in order to remove debris.
At this time, it was uncertain how severe the driver’s injuries were. According to Lieutenant Daniel Allen, a spokeswoman for the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, there were no other vehicles engaged in the incident.
