Severe thunderstorm hits northeast Las Vegas with wind, rain, and lightning

Rain, lightning, and wind gusts were all part of Monday night’s severe thunderstorm warning in the northeast Las Vegas valley.

The neighbourhoods close to Nellis, Sunrise Manor, and Henderson were among those affected by the thunderstorm warning, which was in effect from just after 7:30 p.m. until 8:45 p.m.

Harry Reid International Airport reported that thunderstorm activity caused departures to be delayed by an average of 15 minutes just before 9 p.m. on Monday. At approximately 9:40 p.m., the delay warning was lifted.

Due to flooding, U.S. 93 was closed in both directions from I-15 to SR-168. The Nevada Department of Transportation recommended drivers to take other routes.

Due to the possibility of minor flooding, a flood advisory was also issued for the northern portion of the Las Vegas valley from just after 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Mohave County was included in the flood advisory, according to the National Weather Service of Las Vegas just before 9:30 p.m.
