Shooting Near Las Vegas Tourist Hub Leaves Two Dead, Search for Gunman Continues

Two people were killed in a shooting on the Las Vegas strip close to the famous Bellagio fountains, and a manhunt is in progress.

At approximately 10:40 p.m. on Sunday, undersheriff Andrew Walsh reported that Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers were on patrol in the 3600 block of Las Vegas Blvd. when they heard gunfire emanating from the west side of the street.

When the officers arrived at the scene of the shooting, they discovered two victims lying on the sidewalk with what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

According to Walsh, the victims both passed away from their wounds after the officers helped them.

“We are responding to a shooting in the 3600 block of S. Las Vegas Boulevard. The shooting did not occur inside a casino. Please avoid the area,” police stated in a post on X.

Given that the suspect and victim had previously engaged in some form of conflict via “a variety of social media platforms,”

Walsh stated that the LVMPD believes they have identified the suspect and that the violence on Sunday night was an isolated incident.

“At this point every effort is being by members of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Department to locate, apprehend, and arrest the suspect, who’s responsible for this crime,” Walsh stated.

People were seen dropping to the ground and taking cover after what appeared to be an opening fire by a man in a crowded area at the time of the shooting, which was captured during a livestream on the strip.

The strip is depicted in video footage as having a significant police presence.
