Huron, SD – This August 28, the South Dakota State Fair in Huron will hold a meaningful celebration recognizing the valor and sacrifice of our nation’s heroes during the annual Salute to Veterans event. Taking place on the Northwestern Energy Freedom Stage starting at 10:30 a.m., this tribute offers the public a special opportunity to honor the men and women who have courageously served in the armed forces.
As veterans and military personnel receive free admission that day, the fair will create an engaging space to express gratitude and support for the individuals whose service protects our freedom. This event underscores the community’s deep appreciation for veterans’ sacrifices and dedication.
A Distinguished Keynote Speaker and Veterans Appreciation
The event’s keynote speaker will be Jeremiah Schneider, Secretary of the South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs (SDDVA) and a decorated Navy Reservist. Schneider’s military service includes mobilization to Afghanistan as part of the CSE Team Husker Corpsman attached to OHSU Bremerton. His commendations include the Navy Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
Alongside the morning tribute, the South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs will maintain a presence throughout the fair at their booth in the Expo Building, booth #5. Visitors are encouraged to stop by to learn more about veterans’ services and personally thank the veterans in attendance.
