Summer Weather Continues Through Friday Before Rainy Weekend Ahead

The sun came out again on Wednesday, and the weather finally felt like June after a dismal start to the week. Another dreary, wet, and chilly weekend is coming up, so make the most of it while it lasts.

Before things begin to deteriorate, the summer weather persists for the remainder of the workweek. Warm weather enthusiasts will enjoy sunshine and above-average temperatures in the 80s on Thursday and Friday.

On Thursday, temperatures will rise beyond 90 degrees in some parts of New Jersey and stay in the low 80s around Long Island’s shore. Despite the possibility of a stray shower after evening when a front moves into the area, the whole day is sunny and dry.

Beginning on Friday, cooler air will be brought in by that front.

On Friday, inland highs still reach the 80s despite the dip in temperature. Although a few more clouds may begin to form in the sky, it should be dry for another day. If you can make it to the shore, Friday will be a terrific beach day, just like Thursday and Wednesday.

Friday night could bring more light showers, and more are predicted for the weekend, so Saturday and Sunday will likely be wet as usual. Although we don’t expect rain to last all day, you should have an umbrella on hand on both days.

If your Father’s Day plans depend on the weather, make sure you have a backup plan in case a shower interrupts your plans.

This weekend, the Hudson Valley and North Jersey are expected to receive the greatest rain, while Long Island and South Jersey will receive very little. Therefore, people farther to the south and east are more likely to experience dry spells.

And you’re not mistaken if it seems like another rainy weekend is expected at this point.

Six of the ten Saturdays since April have been rainy in Central Park. And there was a hint of rain on three of the four “dry” Saturdays.

It can even seem like the entire year has been damp because of all these rainy weekends.

Additionally, April was drier than usual, even if May was undoubtedly a rainy month in the city, with over 6.5 inches of total rain, more than two inches above average.

Because most of the precipitation occurred on weekends, when most people wanted to be outside, it just felt wet.

Additionally, despite our recent rain, Central Park is more than an inch behind average for 2025 because January started the year extremely dry.

Additionally, a lot of places in the tri-state have accrued even bigger deficits this year.

Indeed, it has been raining a lot lately, and the first half of next week will bring even more rainy days. However, at this time of year, that is not particularly exceptional.

The way that our weekends have been affected more than any other day of the week has been out of the ordinary.

Summer is now approaching, so hopefully the change in seasons will help bring about a change in this weather pattern. This spring has been a run of bad luck.
