Suspect dies after High-Speed pursuit and Fatal Police shooting in Anaheim

Officers from the Anaheim Police Department killed a chase suspect accused of injuring someone at a local motel on Wednesday night.

The suspect allegedly shot the victim around 7:45 p.m. at Anaheim’s Kona Inn Motel. The victim is in stable condition, according to Anaheim police.

The guy, who investigators feared was armed, drove a white Chevrolet Silverado through Anaheim’s surrounding cities, including Cerritos and La Palma, while speeding down CA-91. The driver exited the freeway around Northeast Anaheim and continued evading police on local streets before re-entering CA-91.

At times, the suspect ran red lights and rushed through intersections, narrowly avoiding other automobiles.

Before returning to surface streets at 8:30 p.m., the motorist abruptly began driving on the wrong side of the motorway, weaving through other cars.

Police attempted to halt the chase with an unsuccessful spike strip and PIT manoeuvre. The suspect continued to speed past junctions.

After a traffic stop, an officer attempted to pin the suspect’s truck by pushing the driver into the sidewalk with the police car. However, it proved ineffective, and the culprit continued to flee police.

Police pursued the driver until a successful PIT manoeuvre sent the pickup into a wall on W. Memory Lane between City Drive and Bristol Street, near Memory Lane Park in Santa Ana.

The suspect attempted to drive away but collided with another wall, allowing authorities to pin the pickup. The culprit appeared to accelerate into a wall, resulting in a cloud of smoke that concealed the truck. At that point, officers shot and killed the suspect. The smoke quickly dispersed.

Following a brief confrontation, one passenger exited the pickup and surrendered to authorities. The passenger was unharmed.

The Anaheim Police Department said detectives discovered a weapon in the truck when it was initially searched by the California Department of Justice.
