HOOVER
– Melvin Crumble II, age 36 of Fairfield, has been identified as the suspect in the Hoover shooting that led to the injury of an employee and the death of an unborn child.
Crumble is currently booked into the Hoover jail on charges of manslaughter and second-degree assault in connection to a shooting that occurred on Saturday, June 14 at Walk-Ons Sports Bistreaux in Hoover.
The police were dispatched to the scene at Tattersall Drive on June 14 at 1:47 p.m. after there was a report of a shooting involving two employees.
After arriving on the scene, authorities discovered a 22-year-old pregnant employee who had a gunshot wound to her abdomen. She was then taken in stable condition to UAB Hospital by the Hoover Fire Department. She was approximately five months pregnant and her unborn child did not survive the shooting.
During investigation, detectives interviewed several witnesses and reviewed several items of evidence from the scene. Based upon the evidence, authorities believe the incident allegedly happened as a result of the male suspect recklessly handling his firearm in front of the victim.
Crumble, who was also an employee of Walk-On’s, has been identified as the suspected shooter in the incident. The facts of the case were presented to the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office and warrants were obtained for Crumble’s arrest.

- Manslaughter – Class B felony – $100,000 bond
- Assault in the second degree – Class B felony – $50,000
