Teen dies, two injured after street race ends in crash, home collision in Antioch

The Metro Nashville Police Department reports that a street race that resulted in a multi-vehicle catastrophe and sent another car into a house in Antioch has left a teenager dead and two others injured.

According to Nashville Police Department, officers tried to stop the reckless driving when they saw an Infiniti M37 racing another car. According to the report, the officers chose not to pursue the Infiniti after it sped away.

After losing control, the 18-year-old male driver struck a mailbox, a parked van, and a light pole before crashing into a house on Anderson Road at approximately nine o’clock at night.

While his two passengers, both 17 years old, were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, the driver was declared dead at the site. According to the Nashville Police Department’s report, one of them is listed in critical condition. Neither was fastened to their seat.

To find out if the motorist was intoxicated at the time of the event, toxicology tests are being conducted.

Along with two other cars, the other race car was engaged in a separate collision on Anderson Road and Kindwood Drive. According to reports, the driver of that car was apprehended because he was underage. Officers at the site reported no serious injuries in that collision.
