Teen driver nearly hits pedestrians during wild police pursuit in Mount Joy

After allegedly attempting to elude law enforcement officers by leading them on a high-speed pursuit, a young man from Pennsylvania is currently facing multiple charges over the incident.

On May 6, officers from the Mount Joy Borough Police Department responded to a call of a person driving dangerously in Lancaster County, according to the department.

The driver, who has been identified as a 14-year-old, was allegedly driving without a licence, and the police accused him of putting bystanders in danger during the pursuit by “travelling off the roadway onto the sidewalk where pedestrians were walking, nearly striking them.”

Other allegations made by the officers include the fact that the teenager failed to stop at a stop sign and drove in the opposite direction on the road.

Apparently, the adolescent from Harrisburg did not have permission to operate the vehicle, according to the police.

According to the police, the 14-year-old was taken into custody and charged with driving without a licence, driving recklessly, disrespecting a traffic lane, failing to stop at a stop sign and driving without a licence.

Additionally, he was charged with engaging in reckless endangerment of another individual as well as running or attempting to avoid a law enforcement officer.
