A 17-year-old suspect in an attempted murder case is being charged with multiple crimes after Durham Police said he led officers on a chase.

Just before 6 p.m., police said they saw a Jeep that looked like the car of a wanted suspect in the 900 block of Burch Avenue. When police tried to stop the car, the driver took off, and Durham police and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol started a chase.

Soon after, officers from Durham County put stop signs on Stagville Road near Joe Ellis Road, and the driver was arrested.

The police said they found a gun in the car.

The teen driver was charged with hit-and-run, going off the road without a license, and having a gun while being a child. Police said he was also given warrants for attempted murder and kidnapping in connection with a case in Alamance County.
