Tesla driving wrong way hits SUV, Injures 3 on I-15 in Millard county

Three persons were hospitalised following a sequence of crashes involving a wrong-way vehicle on Interstate 15 in Millard County.

The accident occurred at mile marker 177 near Holden at 7:20 p.m. on Wednesday.

Lt. Cameron Roden of the Utah Highway Patrol said there were complaints of a Tesla travelling aggressively in the northbound lanes.

At some point, the vehicle entered southbound lanes in the wrong way.

According to officials, the Tesla sideswiped a semi before colliding head-on with an SUV.

The SUV then veered off the road and rolled on its side.

The driver of the Tesla and two passengers in the SUV were sent to the hospital.

Lt. Roden said another semi was damaged after colliding with debris from the incident, but the driver was fine.

There were no reported injuries in the first semifinal.

Southbound traffic was routed off the freeway at exit 178 to the frontage road.

The road was not scheduled to be open until after 11 pm. It wasn’t clear whether the Tesla was in self-driving mode or if there were indicators of impairment.
