A vehicle pursuit in Webster ended midnight Tuesday when the suspect leapt into a nearby body of water to avoid arrest.
Camarillo, a Constable’s Deputy from Harris County Precinct 8, was involved in a chase with a vehicle near the Gulf Motorway in Clear Lake City.
The culprit, now identified as Russell John Einarsson, eluded officials in Webster and League City. Law enforcement from both cities assisted Precinct 8 during the chase.
The chase concluded at the 18800 block of Egret Bay Boulevard, where Einarsson drove off the road, exited his vehicle, and leapt into a nearby body of water.
According to authorities, Einarsson swam for roughly 20 minutes. Officials attempted to order the guy to evacuate the sea, but Nassau Bay authorities utilised a boat to detain him.
Einarsson was transferred to a local hospital for treatment after being exposed to cold water for an extended period of time.
He was charged with felony evading a motor vehicle and possessing crack cocaine.
Harris County officials have not revealed what prompted the chase.
