The Detective Is Already Dead is an English abbreviation of Japanese manga series named, 探偵はもう、死んでいる. Created by Umibōzu and written by Nigojū, ‘The Detective is Already Dead’ is a Japanese light novel series that debuted on July 4, 2021. The storyline of the series follows the life of a young boy, Kimihiko Kimizuka who has attracted trouble. As the story goes further we see that Kimihiko believes that he was born with a condition that naturally attracts him to troublesome situations. 

It stars Austin Tindle, Xanthe Huynh, Jad Saxton, Arryn Zech, Megan Shipman, Jamie Marchi, Kellen Goff, and Michelle Rojas as the lead star cast of the series. 

The production companies behind the series are Crunchyroll and Muse Communication. 

Will there be The Detective is Already Dead season 2?

The anime television series, ‘The Detective is Already Dead’ which is an adaptation of ENGI that premiered in July and ran till September 2021. The series proved to be a huge hit in terms of viewership and ratings. Keeping the success in mind, a second season has been officially announced by the makers.

As of now, the starring of the upcoming season of The Detective Is Already Dead is yet to be confirmed by the makers. Considering the finale of the first edition which ended in September 2021, we might anticipate seeing some cast members from the previous season to be seen for sure!

  • Chameleon will be voiced by Takehito Koyasu (Japanese) and Kellen Goff (English)

  • Bat will be voiced by: Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Japanese) and Kayleigh McKee (English)

  • Cerberus will.be voiced by Jouji Nakata (Japanese) and Steven Kelly (English) 

  • Alicia will be voiced by Maria Naganawa (Japanese) and Tia Ballard (English)
