When the series ended, there were many rumors about the hit series’ possibilities of making a comeback and continuing the story after the events of season 8 but so far nothing has been confirmed. Here’s what we know about season 9 of The Vampire Diaries.
Will There be a Season 9 of The Vampire Diaries?
After the series wrapped with its eighth and final season in 2017, there have been multiple rumors about the show’s continuation, however, fans of this show can drop their hopes. It’s clear that season 9 of Vampire Diaries will not happen. To begin with, season 9 was not even renewed, although there were only speculations and a few hints from the creators online when they spoke of it. Well, for now it’s pretty much evident that season 9 of The Vampire Diaries was discontinued.
In an interview star Paul Wesley who plays Stefan Salvatore was asked about his most cherished memories from the last eight seasons, he said: “Off the top of my head, I don’t really have a favorite memory, but in the general sense, as an actor, you audition for something, you get a job, you shoot that job, and then you go away and shoot the next job. It all comes and goes. And with something like this, I never knew, walking into that room, that it was going to be eight years of my life. I started the job as a certain kind of person, and I left a completely different person. It’s shaped my entire existence, or at least a lot of my formative years, in my 20s. This show is going to forever be ingrained in my personality, which is a major deal. I didn’t sign up for that, when I walked into the audition, but I’m very grateful for it. It’s amazing! I’m scarred for life”, the actor explained.

Why Season 9 of The Vampire Diaries Will Not Happen?

A year after the series conclusion, Paul Wesely in a chat with US Weekly revealed that the show went on a little longer than he thought.
“To be honest with you, the show probably could’ve ended maybe a year earlier. I felt like we kept it going, but we all knew this was the best possible thing to do,” he disclosed on the Watch With Us podcast. “You start to run out of the story, and I think we had told all the story that needed to be told.”
Hence, The Vampire Diaries Season 9 has no chance of returning in the future. Stay tuned for more updates.
