According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a trooper performing a PIT maneuver on the east end of the Gandy Bridge injured a Tampa man who was traveling at over 100 miles per hour and a passenger in the vehicle.

According to investigators, Brandon Ramnarine, 31, was operating a Toyota Supra on the Gandy Bridge early on Sunday morning at 93 mph in a 55 mph zone.

Ramnarine ran across the bridge when the trooper tried to stop him.

The Toyota spun onto the shoulder, struck a light pole, and caught fire when the pursuing trooper performed a PIT maneuver.

Due to non-life-threatening injuries, both of the guys in the automobile were transported to a nearby hospital.

Ramnarine was accused of running away and avoiding capture at a fast rate of speed.
