Troy Police make Arrest in major Auto Theft Operation spanning Michigan

Jordan Grey, one of the principal suspects in a large-scale investigation into a vehicle theft ring in Michigan, was detained by Troy police.

Grey was arrested on Monday (April 14) by the Troy Police Department Special Investigations Unit, in collaboration with Macomb County Auto Theft, as part of an ongoing investigation into an organised auto theft ring that operates throughout South-east Michigan and beyond.

Grey had been linked to scores of car thefts from the west side of Michigan to Massachusetts, according to police.

Officials claimed they used social media data, phone monitoring and geolocation, and surveillance of Grey to prove his involvement.

In early April, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office authorised charges for running a criminal enterprise (CCE).

Grey was arrested and arraigned on April 15. At the time, he was given a $1 million bond and required to wear a steel GPS tether if released.

A search warrant executed at Gray’s home on the day of his arrest found vital evidence, including many key fobs, a large sum of cash, and a stolen Glock switch, linking him to the criminal organisation.
