After fainting during a press conference at the White House on Friday, Dr. Mehmet Oz’s granddaughter is recovering. The 11-year-old’s mother thanked President Trump for his kindness during the brief medical emergency.
The well-known doctor who is now the head of Centers for Medicare & Medicaid revealed that his granddaughter Philomena quickly recovered with some ice cream after collapsing in the Oval Office on Friday afternoon, which abruptly ended a Q&A session with the president.
With a picture of the girl savoring her sweet treat, Oz posted on Instagram on Sunday, saying, “Thank you to everyone who has checked in on our granddaughter Philomena after her eventful afternoon in the Oval Office.”
“I am grateful to report that she recovered quickly and was treated to delicious Navy Mess soft serve and some very special time speaking with President Trump while they explored the treasure drawer of the Resolute Desk together.”
When President Trump began taking questions from the gathering press pool on a variety of subjects, the 64-year-old had just been sworn in as the new president.
After several minutes had passed, chaos ensued as a result of the young child falling to the ground.
During the time that White House aides were clearing reporters and cameras away from the scary scene, Oz hurried to his granddaughter’s side. In the end, Trump made his way over to the child’s location to check on him.

In an Instagram post, Philomena Oz’s mother, Daphne Oz, expressed her gratitude to President Trump and expressed relief that the fainting spell was “nothing serious.” She also stated that her daughter “bounced right back” after the incident.
Along with a number of photographs of her daughter and her family at the White House, Daphne posted on Sunday morning, “Thank you to the incredible White House team and medical staff who were so kind to her.”

“Most of all, thank you to President Trump who went out of his way to make both our children feel comfortable in a stressful situation. He was exceedingly warm, caring and generous as he spent personal time with each of them at the Resolute Desk and gifted them treasures to take home.”
