Trump Set to Address West Point Graduates at Commencement Ceremony

As a result of his return to office, President Donald Trump is delivering his first commencement address to the military.

A speech by the Republican president is scheduled to take place on Saturday morning in front of the graduating class of West Point.

The commencement address that President Trump delivered at West Point in the year 2020 took place at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

During his remarks, the president urged the graduating cadets to “never forget” the soldiers who fought a war over slavery.

These remarks came at a time when the nation was coming to terms with its history on race following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

In addition, Trump paid tribute to the history of the military academy as well as its illustrious alumni, such as Douglas MacArthur and Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Due to the fact that the Military Academy had to force the graduating cadets, who had been at home due to COVID-19, to return to an area that was close to a pandemic hot spot, the ceremony that took place five years ago was subject to scrutiny.

In the beginning of this month, President Trump made a trip to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in order to deliver a speech to the graduating class of the University of Alabama.

Don’t Miss these Stories:

His remarks included political attacks against his predecessor Joe Biden, musings about transgender athletes, and lies about the 2020 election. He also mixed with the typical commencement fare and advice that is given at such events.

Friday was the day that Vice President JD Vance addressed the graduating class of the United States Naval Academy, which is located in Annapolis, Maryland.

During his remarks, Vance stated that President Trump is making efforts to ensure that the United States military is deployed with clear objectives, as opposed to the “undefined missions” and “open-ended conflicts” that were common in the past.
