Authorities are describing the slashing of two New York City court officers as a “targeted attack.”
Al Baker, a spokesman for the state Office of Court Administration, informed Fox News that it took place Monday morning in the criminal court facility in Lower Manhattan.
The entire encounter is captured on shocking footage.
“Preliminary information indicated that at least two Court Officers suffered stab and slash injuries in the attacks that broke out shortly before 9:45 am in the lobby on the south side of the building,” Baker stated.
“Several Court Officers immediately rushed to stop the assailant, subduing him near a bank of magnetometers, disarming him, and taking him into custody,” he added.

“Appeared preliminarily to be a targeted attack of the uniformed officers working security details at the courthouse,” Baker said of the assaults on the officers that were captured on camera.
The stabbings happened outside the metal detectors in the court. How the weapon entered the court lobby is unknown.
One of the officers walked to an ambulance on foot, while another was wheeled to another ambulance.
According to the New York State Supreme Court Officers Association, one of the officers sustained severe facial and neck injuries, but they are both in stable condition and should recover.
The New York State Unified Court System is currently in charge of a criminal investigation.

It is yet unknown who the suspect is and what accusations they could face.
The stabbings happened in the same building as Daniel Penny’s trial and President Donald Trump’s criminal trial. Penny was found not guilty of criminally negligent murder in December 2024 for Jordan Neely’s chokehold death on a subway.
