Following the discovery of a “possible security concern” written on a bathroom mirror, a United Airlines flight from Honolulu to Los Angeles returned to Hawaii without incident on Wednesday morning.
Just after 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Flight 1169 departed Daniel K. Inouye International Airport on its way to Los Angeles International Airport.
A United Airlines representative said in a statement that the Boeing 777 returned to the airport following the discovery of the “potential security concern.”
“United Flight 1169 from Honolulu to Los Angeles returned safely to Honolulu after a potential security concern was found written on a lavatory mirror,” according to the statement. “Law enforcement met the aircraft, and a security sweep was conducted.”
No later than 1:35 a.m., it returned to Hawaii.
Despite the airline not confirming what, if anything, was discovered on the aircraft, law enforcement met the plane and performed a security sweep.
