Christian Pulisic
The star-man of Team USA, and affectionately known as ‘Captain America’, Christian Pulisic has been playing in the Premier League since 2019. He signed for London club Chelsea, in a massive deal worth $73 million, making him the most expensive North American player of all-time.
Since playing for the club, the attacking-midfielder has helped them win the most coveted prize in European soccer, the Champions League. During their impressive run to the final in the 2020/21 season, Pulisic scored one of the most important goals, in the semi-final against Spanish giants Real Madrid.
He’d recently fallen out of favor under Thomas Tuchel though, with the then manager relegating him to the bench, and preferring to use him as an impact sub. However, new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly, gave Tuchel the chop in early September, and replaced him with upcoming talent Graham Potter, so it will be super interesting to see if Pulisic can reclaim his place in the starting line-up.
The patchy form has mostly been down to several injuries (although thankfully nothing as bad as the worst injuries that we’ve seen in MLB history), so we have real hope that he’ll be back to his mazy-dribbling best soon.
Chris Richards
This young defender from Birmingham, Alabama has just moved to London side Crystal Palace, and though Chris Richards’s career is just taking off, he looks set to lead the line for both club and country for many years to come. Though only born at the start of the new millennium, the now 22-year-old has already developed a maturity to his game that sees him able to snuff out attacks seemingly at will.
The Crystal Palace manager, Frenchman Patrick Viera, brought him to the club after being impressed by his ability to read the game, and his positional awareness. Leeds United are definitely the Premier League club that are flying the flag for America right now, with them having Wisconsin born Jesse Marsch as their manager.
