After a guy broke into Beanie Babies billionaire Ty Warner’s California property and locked himself in, he brutally attacked a woman, leaving her in a coma.
Following the terrifying event on the afternoon of May 21, Nevada resident Russell Maxwell Phay, 42, was placed under arrest, the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office announced on Tuesday.
According to a criminal complaint that KSBW was able to obtain, deputies arrived at the private residence in Montecito and discovered a woman named “L. Malek-Aslanian” who was seriously injured.
Amber Frost, a communications specialist for the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office, stated that the homeowner was listed in the complaint as “T. Warner,” who was verified to be Ty Warner.
The millionaire was unharmed, although Warner, 80, who is said to be reticent, was at home when the attack occurred.
The 60-year-old financial services professional who was hurt in the assault was formerly employed for Warner’s hotels business.
She was taken right away to the nearby hospital while the police surrounded the suspect who had locked himself in the residence. He attempted to flee by jumping out of a window, but police swiftly surrounded him and arrested him.
Authorities stated that they don’t think Phay knows Warner or the woman he allegedly attacked, but they don’t know why he was there.
A 2014 San Francisco Chronicle report on a special court just for military veterans claimed that Phay had another run-in with the authorities after he was accused of threatening his wife after she took their son to Colorado.

He said that in order to send him to Kuwait, the Army provided him with specialized weapons training. But he said that the tour terminated before he could be sent out.
“I am fully trained for combat,” Phay stated. “I have been trained to eliminate you. I know that sounds crazy, but it is true.”
According to the lawsuit, Phay was accused of attempted murder, burglary, kidnapping, and assault in the attack last week.
He is not eligible for bond and is being held at the Santa Barbara County Southern Branch Jail.
