A driver who evaded a traffic stop ended up in jail after a multi-agency search Wednesday evening.
Just before 7 p.m., a Walla Walla County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to pull over a car without license plates. Instead of stopping, the driver drove away, initiating a chase. Deputies swiftly called off the chase for public safety reasons, but nearby agencies, including the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington State Patrol, were ready to assist.
The defendant continued to drive dangerously into Columbia County before colliding with private property. Officers from the Walla Walla Police Department joined the search, along with K9 Hoss, who swiftly helped locate the offender, who was hiding — perhaps not so ingeniously — inside a nearby garbage can.
The suspect, Skylar Glasby, was taken into custody without incident. He is now facing several accusations in both Walla Walla and Columbia counties. The vehicle he was driving has been impounded pending a search warrant.
Authorities complimented inter-agency cooperation and highlighted that, while they are relieved no one was injured, the scenario might have been averted if the vehicle had simply pulled over. In addition to his existing arrest warrant and suspended license, Glasby is now facing fresh felony accusations.
