Wanted man crashes in Arcadia, Arrested hours later with Drugs and Cash

A man wanted on various crimes was captured early Wednesday after a high-speed chase through Arcadia resulted in a wreck and a foot chase, followed by a search that turned up illegal substances and cash.

According to the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office, the pursuit began at 1:40 a.m., when deputies discovered the suspect in a convenience store.

As they established his identity, Dequan Richardson sped away, sending deputies and Arcadia police on a chase that ended when he slammed into a barrier and fled.

Deputies say they later discovered narcotics, drug paraphernalia, and cash inside the vehicle. Several hours later, they arrested Richardson at a residence. He was brought to DeSoto County Jail.

Sheriff Jim Potter applauded the coordinated efforts of the night and day shifts, as well as the Arcadia Police Department, in apprehending the culprit.
