Everyone knows that goals win games in soccer. In this campaign, there are many strikers who have started well, scoring goals and even getting assists.
This season is unique because the World Cup will be held for the first time ever in the winter. Some players will get a 1 month’s break, like Haaland, whereas most star strikers will have a busy season.
In the summer transfer window, many clubs invested in a new forward. Star player Lewandowski transferred to Barcelona, in a risky transfer strategy, but so far the signing has paid off handsomely.
Man City signed wonderkid, Haaland, Liverpool signed Nunez, and Arsenal signed ex-City player Jesus. It’s fair to say there are a plethora of top strikers in Europe at the moment.
With that in mind, let’s consider who will score the most goals this campaign and win the European Golden Boot, come to the end of the season.
Gakpo
Dutch striker Cody Gakpo was the subject of transfer speculation over the summer transfer window. Huge clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United were linked with him, but he decided to stay at PSV this season.
He’s started the Eredivisie like a house on fire, scoring 8 goals in 8 appearances, and having 6 assists. Currently, he’s the bookie’s favorite to get the top goalscorer award in Holland but is up against his clubmate Xavi Simons for the award. The odds will change in the season, so picking the right bookmaker to wager on the top goalscorer is key.

Haaland
Haaland has taken the Premier League by storm, scoring 14 goals in just 8 games. He has also scored three hat tricks in the time and is making the league look easy. His top-class finishing skills are complemented by the players around him, like De Bruyne and Foden, who are able to find his runs.
Haaland has everything to be the world’s finest striker, he has speed, great aerial ability, and is a top-class finisher. Currently, if he stays on track, he is forecasted to score 40+ goals in the Premier League.
Mbappe
The French wizard has started Ligue 1 impressively, scoring 8 goals in 9 appearances. To win the Golden Boot in France, he will compete with his teammate, Neymar who also has the same number of goals as him.
After his new contract in the summer, Mbappe is the newly crowned king at PSG. It’s estimated he signed an eye-watering $83m signing bonus and is paid $1m a week. As the French league is of lower quality than the Premier League or La Liga, Mbappe has a massive chance this season to win the European Golden Boot.
Lewandowski
Dubbed “Lewangoalski” by former teammate Thomas Mueller at Bayern, Lewandowski is a clinical goalscorer. He has started at Barcelona incredibly, scoring 9 goals in 7 games. To win the award in La Liga, his main opponent will be Benzema. However, the French international has not played a game yet, because of injury, so he has a mountain to climb to catch up with Lewandowski.
The Barcelona team is also back to their best. With some shrewd signings in addition to Lewandoski. Kounde, Kessie, and Raphina have all started well, and with the youthful brilliance of Pedri and Gavi, the future is bright for the Catalan club.
Kane
The England captain has started the Premier League season excellently, scoring 7 goals in 8 appearances. Still far off Haaland, Kane has a lot to do to win the Premier League golden boot. Yet, there’s still a long way to go, and Kane often finishes the season much better than how he starts.
Kane will go away with England for the World Cup, and a successful tournament could be the thing he needs to get the top scorer in the Premier League.
