In Wisconsin, a house fire early Tuesday morning left two women with serious injuries, one of whom is facing life-threatening conditions.

Dispatchers at the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office received an urgent report of a house fire in Hatley at approximately 12:04 a.m. on Tuesday, indicating possible entrapment in the 200 block of Kirkwood Street.

Emergency responders, including deputies and the Hatley Fire Department, arrived on the scene to discover smoke emanating from the structure. A 67-year-old woman present at the location informed responders that a 57-year-old woman remained inside the residence.

She was located and taken from the residence for treatment, but was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. A 67-year-old woman received assistance at the scene for serious burns and was subsequently transported to a hospital for further treatment.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
