A man was struck in the face and a woman was yanked by the hair and dragged during a hate crime attack that took place earlier this month in a store in Manhattan, according to the police, who made the announcement on Monday.
The incident happened inside a store at 2419 Seventh Avenue in Harlem at roughly 2:35 p.m. on April 6, according to the NYPD.
The defendant is accused of making anti-Asian remarks prior to pulling the hair of a lady who was 42 years old and dragging her to the ground. She then hit a man who was 46 years old inside the head and face, causing him to cut his lip, according to the police.
The victims received minor wounded and rejected medical assistance at the spot.
Following the assault, the suspect fled the scene. No arrests have been made at this time.
The New York Police Department’s Hate Crimes Task Force is conducting an investigation into the event.
