According to Kennewick police, they saw an Audi being driven at 122 mph just before it collided with a teenager’s vehicle on Saturday night.
The incident was one of two suspected DUI collisions that Kennewick police responded to on Saturday evening and early Sunday morning.
At approximately 10 p.m. on Saturday, a caller reported seeing a dark-coloured Audi travelling east at a fast pace on Clearwater Avenue close to the Ridgeline Drive and Leslie Road roundabout.
According to police accounts, the automobile ran a red light at Steptoe Street and struck a 17-year-old driving a Volvo across the intersection before they could stop it.
Both vehicles ended up in a field close by.
Police said the juvenile driver had minor injuries and was transported by EMS to Kadlec Regional Medical Centre in Richland.
The driver of the Audi, Jake Robert Musser, 38, of Pasco, was brought to the Benton County jail after being detained on suspicion of DUI and dangerous driving.
A few hours later, Kennewick police were called to another collision that they believed involved an intoxicated motorist.
About 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, Daniel Noriega Alvarez, 23, was operating a GMC Sierra near East 10th Avenue and South Oak Street when the pickup struck a parked vehicle before colliding with a tree, according to Kennewick police.
He was taken into custody at the Benton County jail after being busted for DUI.
