15 burglaries in 4 months in New York Two suspects arrested for Crime Spree

Last week, authorities apprehended two individuals from Buffalo and Derby, linking them to a series of 15 burglaries that occurred across Western New York in the past four months, as reported by New York State Police.

Authorities reported that a burglary occurred at Magic Mist Car Wash located on South Transit Road in Lockport on February 12, 2025. Following an extensive two-month investigation, authorities have connected two suspects to an additional 14 burglary cases.

Incidents of theft and attempted theft occurred mainly at car washes and storage facilities. The reported offences took place across various locations, including Silver Creek, Grand Island, and Newfane.

Two individuals, Michael Tomaka, 39, from Buffalo, and Cody Canterbury, 27, from Derby, have been taken into custody following the incident. Both individuals faced the same charges: third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, and third-degree grand larceny.

Tomaka now faces an extra accusation of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, while Canterbury has been charged with fifth-degree conspiracy. The individuals have been taken to the Niagara County jail and are awaiting their arraignment.
