A rancher’s dog escorted a two-year-old Arizona youngster who had spent the night by himself in the isolated wilderness to safety on April 15. The rancher is now talking about the heroic deed of his hero dog.
In a video interview released by the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, rancher Scotty Dunton of Arizona stated, “I noticed my dog was sitting down by the entrance when I was driving out the driveway, and I looked up and this little kid was standing there with my dog.” “Knowing he was the missing child, it was a relief that he was alive.”
A young boy who “wandered” from his Seligman home was reported to Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies just before 5 p.m. on Monday, April 14, the office said in a press release.
After 16 hours, the response—which included more than 40 search and rescue personnel—came to an end when Bodin Allen showed up on Dunton’s land.
The child left his house and travelled about seven miles. A rescue chopper discovered two mountain lions in the vicinity of the boy’s travels during the search.
“I can’t believe that kid made it that far,” Dunton stated. “It’s 7 miles and that’s just if you walked in a straight line.”
He continued: “There are three big mountain ranges between here and his house, and big valleys, and for a two-year-old to do that, it’s insane.”
On the night of Allen’s disappearance, Duton’s Anatolian Pyrenees, Buford, was on duty. Duton claims that the dog is a “guardian dog, so he just kind of patrols within a half mile of the house all night and keeps coyotes away.”
The rancher queried the youngster about what had happened the previous evening after he had calmed him down, brought him inside, and given him some water.
“Did you walk all night?” Dunton remembered to ask the kid.
“I laid up under a tree,” the child reportedly informed him.

“Did my dog find you? “And he says, ‘Yep,'” recalled Dunton.
Dunton thought Buford had discovered the boy under a tree in the horse field.
“He just brought him home,” Dunton stated. “It’s what he does. He loves kids, so I couldn’t imagine he wouldn’t leave him when he found him.”
