Edgewater teen accused in brutal assaults and burglaries across Chicago

According to the Chicago Police Department, a 19-year-old guy from Chicago was charged on Sunday with many felonies, including kidnapping, home invasion, and criminal sexual assault.

Tymarion Averyhart was charged with eight felony counts in total, according to CPD: three counts of residential burglary, aggravated unlawful restraint, aggravated kidnapping while armed, aggravated sexual assault with a weapon, and aggravated sexual assault – felony.

After being recognized as the perpetrator of the sexual assault of a 21-year-old woman in the 1800 block of West Lunt Avenue earlier that day, Edgewater resident Averyhart was taken into custody Thursday in the 1800 block of West Greenleaf Avenue.

He was also charged with sexually assaulting a 27-year-old victim in the 6200 block of North Bell Avenue on December 26, 2024, according to CPD. Additionally, according to court documents, he was charged with three burglaries that took place in the 6200 block of North Bell Avenue sometime between December 18 and December 27, 2024, December 28 2024, and January 10, 2025.

On Wednesday, May 7, Averyhart is scheduled to return to court.
