A British Airways flight attendant was discovered dead in a San Francisco hotel room during a layover last week, according to sources who spoke with numerous media sites.
According to The Independent, the “popular” flight attendant did not show up for the crew’s return flight to London’s Heathrow Airport after spending 48 hours in San Francisco.
The other crew members aboard the flight were allegedly too sad to continue, therefore the flight was cancelled.
“There was no way the flight back from San Francisco could go ahead. Staff were in absolute bits at the sudden loss of their friend,” said a source quoted in a separate report in The Sun.
Before the crew member was discovered deceased, the pilots had departed the hotel for San Francisco International Airport. According to reports, the cabin crew and inflight supervisors waited for him at the hotel foyer.
When he failed to appear, they went up to his room and discovered he had died. According to The Independent, his body was believed to have been in the room for two days before being discovered.
“Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of our colleague at this difficult time,” said British Airways in a statement to The Independent.
There was no immediate information on what led the flight attendant to die.
