A woman engaged in an automobile accident last Monday is seeking community support after her truck was damaged.
Juanita Lopez is a mother to three children. She was on her way to work on April 7 when she was involved in a collision along Northeast Evergreen Road and Northeast Starr Boulevard.
Lopez, along with the other driver, were sent to the hospital. Hillsboro police confirmed that the other driver survived the crash as well.
Meanwhile, Lopez suffered bruising, a fractured ankle, and a brain bleed, necessitating three weeks of recuperation. She claimed that the other driver was speeding.
“I went to go make a left-hand turn into the company site. As I made the left-hand turn, it was clear for me to go, and then some car, like a small car, it ended up ramming into me,” Lopez recalled. “The gentleman didn’t even push on the brakes because his tires were still spinning as he hit me. And he hit hard.”
Lopez stated that her truck was damaged in the incident, leaving her with serious injuries, and that she is still in pain nearly a week later.
Lopez, who works in security and is the primary provider for her family, stated that she was just promoted at work. Her husband cares for the children, but Lopez is unable to commute to work without a vehicle.
“I need to provide. I need to buy something. “I need to pay bills,” Lopez stated.
She also stated that she and her family had intended to move into a new home this month, but those plans are now jeopardized because they no longer have a vehicle.
“I just bought land, too, but we can’t go, we can’t move because, again, we have no transportation,” Lopez told the crowd.
“Just getting any little bit of help that I could to get the truckā¦. again, because it’ll help out a great deal,” Lopez told me. “I don’t typically ask, but I would just love and appreciate the help from the community.”
Hillsboro Police confirmed that neither motorist was impaired at the time of the accident.
