North Texas Mom Pens Touching Song Honoring Military Mothers for Mother’s Day

This Sunday is Mother’s Day, a day that can be particularly difficult for mothers whose children are in the armed forces.

For fellow military moms, a mother from North Texas wrote a song.

As vocalist Stacy Wynette practices another day at a recording studio in Dallas, the lights beam brightly on her.

“I started singing in church when I was 12 or 13 years old,” stated Wynette.

Music has always been Wynette’s passion and love.

“I got married, had kids, sang in church for another 15 years or so, and then I just didn’t pick it up again until my kids have chosen their own path,” Wynette stated.

When Jon, her youngest son, enlisted in the US Army, he discovered his calling.

“As a mom, you’re like, ‘Will they feed him well, or will they take care of him? Or how’s he going to make it?” Wynette spoke.

When Jon deployed in battle, particularly in Eastern Europe during the response to the war in Ukraine, the concern only grew.

“They’re your babies, and you just see them as the little toddlers that they were when they were little, even though they’re grown,” Wynette stated.

Wynette frequently made the six-hour drive to Jon’s Arkansas location. During those journeys, her feelings were translated into lyrics in her head.

“Military Mama is a song that was written as a hug from me to other military moms,” Wynette stated.

Christian Chavarria, a writer and producer, assisted Wynette in writing her lyrics.

“I felt it was important to me to be a part of this because, I come from a single parent,” Chavarria stated.

Prior to this, Wynette sang “Military Mama” at the Downtown Dallas Arts and Music Festival, among other venues.

“She’s performed it at an open my called ‘The Love Mic,’ which is a really cool thing,” Chavarria stated. “The Love Mic is a mental health advocacy event that happens every Monday at Sundown at Granada.”

Wynette hopes her song will resonate with other military moms and show them that there is support from a woman who knows what they’re going through.

“There’s just such a huge common camaraderie between the military moms, which is where all the feeling of this came from,” Wynette said. “It’s very raw emotions. We feel each other’s hearts, and our children are our heartbeat.”

“This is going to be very impactful, very heartfelt, and might bring healing,” Chavarria stated.

Later in life, Wynette honed her craft and assisted other military mothers in healing.

“I started writing songs and started playing the guitar at age 53,” Wynette stated.

“I think that it’s never too late to find and go after your passion,” Chavarria stated.

As she holds her kids and daughters even closer, the military mother wants to inspire others to follow their ambitions.

On Mother’s Day, May 11th, at 11:11, the song is formally released on all streaming services. Click here to visit Wynette’s website and listen to it right now.
