Following a collision early Saturday morning, the Mount Pleasant Police Department reported that a motorist had been arrested for the fourth time for operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI).
The incident happened at the intersection of State Highway 31 (N. Green Bay Road) and Northwestern Avenue (STH 83) on Saturday, May 3rd, shortly after 2:30 a.m., according to a department Facebook post. The South Shore Fire Department and Mount Pleasant Police Department sent emergency personnel to the scene.
According to the police, the car struck a traffic signal on the northwest corner of Northwestern Avenue while it was heading west. The vehicle’s front end was severely damaged. According to reports, the motorist was sent to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The person was later taken into custody by the authorities for their fourth OWI offense. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation was contacted to assess the damage to the traffic light after the car was towed.
Investigations into the disaster are still ongoing.
