Marietta police are investigating why gunmen opened fire at an apartment complex on Wednesday night.

Officials say two individuals were hurt in the incident on Williams Drive, which is off Canton Road. Eight more males have been brought into custody for questioning.

Marietta police told FOX 5 that officers arrived at the Lakeside at Town Centre apartments about 10 p.m. on Wednesday after receiving multiple reports of shooting.

One woman who resided in the condominium told 911 that a gunshot had entered her apartment but had not struck anyone. Several other automobiles and houses were hit.

According to investigators, the callers identified the car used in the shooting as a black BMW sedan.

Officials said officers fleeing the area spotted the vehicle and attempted to stop it. Instead of coming to a halt, detectives say the car accelerated, resulting in a chase that stopped when the driver lost control at the intersection of Polk Street and Mountain View Road. The vehicle veered off the road, collided with a power post, and wound up on its side.

Investigators said they arrested five males and discovered many firearms in the automobile.

Around the same time the chase was going on, a group from the shooting scene arrived to Kennestone Hospital. Two males in the group had gunshot wounds.
