Vehicle slammed into turning car, killing 4 seniors in Delray Beach; Locals raise speed issues

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) has identified the four people killed in a high-speed crash near Delray Beach.

PBSO identified the victims as:

  • James Lawrence Rose, 88
  • Gerald Levy, 92
  • Thelma Levy, 94
  • Arlene Rose, 87

According to the PBSO crash report, the high-speed cash caused a two-car collision in which two people were hurt.

According to the PBSO crash report, at 8:57 p.m. on Monday, a vehicle moving southbound at excessive speed in the 1700 block of South Military Trail collided with another vehicle turning left into the Polo Club Shops.

According to the report, the southbound vehicle collided with the passenger side of the turning vehicle, causing significant damage.

According to the PBSO, the force of the incident caused both vehicles to deviate off the road.

Officials said that Palm Beach County Fire Rescue (PBFR) units were at the scene in less than three minutes. When they arrived, they located the first vehicle in the bushes, with the engine compartment on fire.

According to PBSO, two people were in the car: a female driver, 20, and a male passenger, 22, both of whom were sent to Delray Medical Center with critical injuries.

According to the investigation, the turning vehicle carrying the four victims collided with a concrete utility pole before coming to a stop. They were pronounced dead on the spot by paramedics.

“That’s sad. That’s sad. Yeah, they need to really slow down,” Susie Michel said. Michel used to work in the plaza and said speeding through this stretch of South Military Trail is nothing new. “It’s always an accident here on military,” Michel said.

PBSO stated that all next of kin have been located and notified.
