Waitress, 81, Receives $300K in Donations After Retirement Struggle Shared Online

A woman had left a generous tip of forty dollars for a restaurant server named Betty, who was 81 years old and worked in Pittsburgh. Because of this, she must have been smiling the entire time she was working.

It’s possible that she believed that was the last time they would encounter with each other, but Betty could not have envisaged what would happen as a result of that forty dollar tip.

Tamie Konzier, an aesthetician and TikToker residing in Pittsburgh, had taken her son Leo to dine at a neighbourhood restaurant called dine’n Park. While they were there, she overheard Betty confiding to another patron that she struggled to finish out her shifts due to back discomfort, but that she was unable to retire due to financial troubles. The modest social security check that arrived in the mail for $910 was not sufficient.

Konzier, who was moved by Betty’s predicament, quickly pulled out her phone and pushed the record button. If there is only one video that I can make go viral, let it be this one.

She then proceeded to postscript the video by offering Betty forty dollars, which she referred to as “all the money in my purse.” She did this while describing the position that Betty was in to her followers. She then announced that she would give any income that her TikTok Creator Rewards Program would produce from the post to Betty.

Despite the fact that she is 81 years old, Betty was affected and thankful, and she assured Konzier that she is capable of “still outdoing all these whippersnappers.”

In the end, Konzier’s wish came true: the post became viral. She had to establish a GoFundMe account in order to channel the kindness that she had gotten within the span of twenty-four hours since she had received so many requests for a place to donate.

She then went to tell Betty the news when she reached $140,000.

“I think I better get a financial adviser!” It was obvious that Betty was astonished. I have no idea what I will be able to accomplish with the help of this.

A few more updates on the situation were given by Konzier, and each time, the amount of money donated to the GoFundMe page increased until it hit $300,000.

“I can not express how grateful Betty is for her retirement fund!” Konzier stated in the final update on the fundraiser. “My lawyer, Max Petrunya, and I have set Betty up with an Elder Law attorney, Colin Morgan of Julian Gray Associates. We are in the process of setting up a trust fund for Betty so her social services are not affected. Thank you again for your donations, we expect to close the go fund me at the end of April.”
