Democrats are under fire from the White House for “prioritizing the welfare of illegal aliens over American citizens” after they stormed an ICE facility in New Jersey and “outright broke the law.”
According to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin, New Jersey Democrats Reps. Rob Menendez Jr., Bonnie Watson Coleman, and LaMonica McIver entered ICE’s Delaney Hall detention facility in Newark, N.J., on Friday and were detained inside the first checkpoint.
When the gates opened to let an ICE bus in, the three MPs were outside the building with a group of demonstrators. The politicians then hurried past security and through the gates, according to DHS.
The three members of Congress assaulted the gate of the ICE detention center where Ras Baraka, the mayor of Newark, New Jersey, was arrested, demanding permission to make a “oversight visit.”
According to authorities, Baraka, a leading Democratic candidate for governor, was taken into custody on the spot for trespassing.
The Democrats are being criticized by the White House for “crossing the line.”
“As always, Democrats are prioritizing the welfare of illegal aliens over American citizens – except now they’re crossing the line between meaningless political street theatre and outright breaking the law,” White House spokesman Kush Desai stated.
In recent days, activists have called for access to the property, claiming that the new owner, GEO Group, is illegally blocking inspections.

According to a lawsuit filed on April 1 on behalf of the City of Newark, GEO Group violated the city building code by doing plumbing and electrical improvements without the necessary supervision and by refusing to allow admission to safety inspectors.
The claims made by legislators in Newark that Delaney lacks the required permits are untrue, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
