14-year-old fatally shot outside federal reserve bank after fight, Minneapolis police say

After a fight broke out outside the Federal Reserve Bank on Monday night, police say a 14-year-old kid was shot and killed.

According to the police, the incident took place close to North 1st Street and Hennepin Avenue at approximately 9 p.m. One of the young males drew a gun and shot a 14-year-old youngster after they got into a quarrel.

The youngster had at least one gunshot wound when the police discovered him on the ground. After being brought to the hospital, he passed away from his wounds.

According to Minneapolis authorities Chief Brian O’Hara, the victim is known to the authorities and, despite his youth, this was not the first time he has been shot. However, the victim’s identification has not yet been made public.

“This appears to be what is typical anywhere around the country, and that’s teenage boys getting into some kind of altercation. The problem is when teenagers have guns. So instead of settling a fight with fists, this has now turned deadly, taking away the life of a teenager and changing others forever,” said O’Hara.

No one has been arrested as of yet. Where the suspected shooter got the gun is unknown, according to the police.

“The problem is, it’s way too acceptable to have so many guns in circulation and so many teenagers, and younger, that have access to guns. This is the result of that,” said O’Hara.

Another gunfire occurred close to Elliot Park an hour later. A 29-year-old guy was shot, according to the police, but he should recover from his wounds.

Nearby, a suspect in the shooting was taken into custody. The two incidents are not thought to be related, according to police.

According to O’Hara, the current increase in gun violence has made this week difficult. Police looked into six gunshots that occurred in a 24-hour period on Wednesday, resulting in five fatalities and six injuries. The two shootings on Monday night, according to authorities, do not seem to be tied to the violence that occurred last week, despite the fact that some of the recent shootings are thought to be connected.

“While it has been a tough week, the police officers here are working hard. And we’re going to continue to work hard and not only to bring those responsible to justice, but also to continue to try and prevent things,” said O’Hara.

According to the chief, some of the incidents from last week have already resulted in arrests, including the alleged shooter of the mass shooting in Minneapolis that left four people dead and one injured. Just hours after the mass shooting, a man was killed in a shooting on Cedar Avenue, and two more persons have been charged in relation to the incident.

According to the chief, further arrests are anticipated in connection with the recent violence, including the person who killed a 14-year-old child on Monday night.
