6 injured, 3 serious, after man plows car into Naples Thrift Store

A man has been arrested after police claim he purposely drove his 2024 black Honda sedan into the storefront, injuring several persons.

Sheriff Kevin Rambosk applauded the coordinated actions of first responders, which resulted in Russell’s rapid arrest and prompt medical care for the injured.

“Our deputies, along with fire, EMS and law enforcement crews, responded with urgency and professionalism,” according to Sheriff Rambosk.

Six individuals were injured in the incident, including one employee, and three had catastrophic injuries after a vehicle collided into the St. Matthew’s House Boutique Thrift Store. They were all taken to surrounding hospitals for treatment.

Russell was brought into custody at the scene and eventually arrested following an evaluation and questioning.

He is facing many accusations, including three counts of aggravated violence inflicting serious bodily harm and criminal mischief over $1,000.

The crash happened around 10:40 a.m. on Airport-Pulling Road in Collier County, resulting in considerable traffic in the region.

The vehicle apparently drove into the structure from the north.

St. Matthew’s House is collaborating with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office to assess the conditions of those injured in the collision.

St. Matthew’s House issued a statement following the tragedy, stating, in part, “St. Matthew’s House is deeply concerned and praying for the victims of this tragic incident at our thrift store in Naples.”

The inquiry is ongoing, and the State Attorney’s Office will evaluate the evidence to consider amending the charges.

It is still unknown why the motorist deliberately crashed into the building.
