A Massachusetts man is facing numerous charges following a shooting in a Maine town late Wednesday night, which followed a high-speed chase and a crash that injured four people, according to investigators.
Lorenzo Rondon, 24, of Lawrence, was arrested for fleeing an officer, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon (car), driving to endanger, and criminal speeding, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss.
Officers and troopers responding to a report of several shots fired on Park Street in Paris just after 11:30 p.m. observed a blue SUV departing the scene and attempted to stop the driver, but he refused to pull over, Moss said.
The driver, later identified as Rondon, allegedly sped away, resulting in a chase involving law enforcement agencies from Oxford and Androscoggin counties.
A spike mat was later deployed, and Rondon crashed in a field on Route 26 in Mechanic Falls, according to Moss.
All four occupants of Rondon’s vehicle were transported to Central Maine Medical Centre, including one who received treatment for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Moss reported that two firearms were seized after the chase.
Rondon was brought into arrest and placed into the Androscoggin County Jail.
There were no reported injuries as a result of the shooting in Paris.
An investigation is ongoing.
