On Saturday, April 19, 2025, a police chase resulted in the arrest of one guy and the death of another in a crash near Racine.
The Racine Police Department reports that police were engaged in a car chase at approximately 6 p.m. When the fugitive vehicle struck an uninvolved vehicle on Lathrop Avenue and ran a stop sign at Victory and Lathrop, the pursuit came to an end.
The collision left the driver of that car with serious injuries. His name is Daniel Brown, and on Sunday, April 20, he passed away from his wounds.
To treat his severe injuries, Brown was transported by Flight for Life to Froedtert. He was operating a 2007 Honda Ridgeline, which was black.
Adonis Martin, a 36-year-old Racine native, has been identified as the suspect. The Racine County Jail is where he is currently being kept after being brought into custody.
A blue 2008 Ford Taurus was being driven by Martin.
According to the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, Martin had a long criminal history and had outstanding warrants from the Department of Corrections for removing a monitoring bracelet at the time of the collision.
The Major Crash Assistance Team and the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Bureau are still looking into the event and will recommend charges to the Racine County District Attorney’s Office for consideration.
The following statement was provided by the sheriff’s office:
“We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Brown during this difficult time.”
The Racine County Sheriff’s office is urging anyone with knowledge about this event to get in touch.
