Car slammed into apartment in Garden City, caused Fire and Mass Evacuation Driver critical

A automobile slammed into an apartment building on North Garrett Street in Garden City, displacing 16 people.

Boise Fire and Garden City Fire both responded to the incident, which happened around 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 21. A spokeswoman with Boise Fire stated that when they arrived, they discovered a car that had slammed into the first story of an apartment complex.

The automobile and apartment then caught fire. Crews were able to immediately rescue the driver of the automobile while extinguishing the fire and evacuating the remaining people.

The driver of the car was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. Three other people reported injuries, but were treated and discharged on the site.

According to a Boise incident official, the incident was restricted to the ground level unit, and the cause is still being investigated.

This incident resulted in the displacement of around 16 apartment tenants. Boise Fire stated that the Local 149 Burnout Fund and TIPS have responded and are assisting affected families.

Aaron Hummel, Boise Fire’s Division Chief of Operations, told KTVB that fire investigators will be present for some time, potentially all night, to monitor the situation.

People in the neighborhood may have observed a significant number of emergency workers. According to Boise Fire, seven engines, two trucks, two battalion chiefs, one division chief, two medic units, a medic supervisor, a safety officer, a fire investigator, Garden City Police, Ada County Sheriff’s Office, and Boise Police responded to the incident.
