A suspect was driving at high speeds without his lights on and hitting walls and roundabouts.
Two police pursuit intervention methods were used. One of them caused the suspect’s car to leave the road and damage property by driving through the lawn of a business on Calumet Drive.
And a police stop with a high risk.
All of them are less than 3.5 miles away.
These are the specifics of the most recent Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office chase. It started at 9:09 p.m. on April 4 when a deputy stopped a car on South Military Road and Interstate 41 for not having the right equipment.
As soon as another constable came, the constable used the driver’s photo ID from Wisconsin to identify them.
In the first case, the constable asked the driver to get out of his car. In a news release, the sheriff’s office said that the driver refused multiple officers’ orders to get out of the car. Instead, the driver went to put the car in drive, which is when the constable used his Taser on the driver. It didn’t work, though, and the car sped away from the traffic stop.
The chase went on until the second of two methods used to stop the pursuit worked and the car stopped on Calumet Drive. There was a high-risk traffic stop there, and the driver was arrested without any further trouble.
The driver, a 45-year-old man from Milwaukee, was taken to the Fond du Lac County Jail on suspicion of felony running or eluding, second-degree reckless endangering safety, felony bail jumping, and criminal damage to property.
As of Friday, the guy was free on a $500 cash bond from Brown County for felony fleeing or eluding.
The man’s name was kept secret.
The event did not hurt anyone. During the pursuit intervention methods, two sheriff’s squad vehicles got some minor damage. Because the taser was used, Fond du Lac paramedics checked on the subject at the scene.
There was help for the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office from the Fond du Lac Police Department, the Wisconsin State Patrol, and Fond du Lac Ambulance.
