A mother from the East Bay raised the alarm about what she claims was physical mistreatment of her children at a creche.
On Monday, Raychelle Jeffryes informed the Pittsburg City Council that a KinderCare instructor had mistreated her twins, who are five years old.
According to Jeffryes, her daughter told her when she got home last month that a teacher had taken her arm, forced her into a chair, and shoved her into a table. According to her son, the same teacher yelled at him while grabbing his arm.
Additionally, Jeffryes said that the nursery worker had participated in such situations at other KinderCare facilities.
“Yet instead of removing her, they transferred her around and allowed more children to be harmed. Since I came forward, other families have bravely spoken out and confirmed that their children were also hurt under her care,” she said.
While looking into the claims, KinderCare has put the teacher on administrative leave.
According to a KinderCare representative, the company’s first focus is ensuring children’s safety.
“We take these matters seriously, and as soon as we were made aware of the concerns, we reported them to state licensing last week. We also began conducting our own internal investigation. The teacher in question is not currently working at any of our centers and is on administrative leave while the investigation is underway. We will take any and all appropriate action upon conclusion of the investigations,” the spokesperson said.
