The Polk County Sheriff’s Office reports that three Osceola High School students were hurt in what looks to be a gunfight at a Davenport resort.
According to the sheriff’s office, Azur Resort on Famagusta Drive in Davenport, where the incident occurred early on Sunday, contains several short-term rentals.
The sheriff’s office reports that when a brawl started, there were more than 100 people and many cars present. According to a release, a witness informed deputies that a “group of males” were engaged in combat when they started shooting at one another.
Three individuals, an 18-year-old male, a 17-year-old girl, and a 17-year-old boy, were hurt “due to being in the crossfire” while they were in a parked car, according to deputies. The three claimed to have overheard a dispute before to the shooting.
According to officials, the 18-year-old received treatment for a graze wound to his forehead and was later discharged from the hospital.
Debris was in the 17-year-old boy’s eye. He might no longer be able to utilise his eye at this time, according to Sheriff Grady Judd. According to deputies, the 17-year-old girl suffered graze wounds to her forehead and shoulder. Sheriff’s authorities said they were still in the hospital as of Sunday.
According to the sheriff’s office, all three attended Osceola High School. The victims, according to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, were simply not supposed to be there after midnight and were not “troublemakers.”
According to the sheriff’s office, they are trying to identify the gunman by watching recordings, but they are having problems getting anyone to talk. Judd stated that because of the quantity of shells and bullet holes, they think there were at least three shooters.
