According to investigators, an Indiana man attempted to abduct and rape a woman after rear-ending her while she was carrying her infant in the car.
Jason M. Middleton is charged with attempted rape, attempted armed kidnapping, and criminal confinement with a deadly weapon, according to court documents. A probable cause arrest affidavit that the Greenfield Daily Reporter was able to get states that on April 28 in Hancock County, while the woman was stopped at a junction close to U.S. 52 and County Road 100 West, Middleton struck the rear of her car.
After Middleton and the lady exited their vehicles, the suspect allegedly attempted to hold the victim accountable for the collision, despite the fact that it was clearly his responsibility.
“What the f— did I do?” he allegedly shouted at her. “You just hit me twice, and I have a baby in the car,” the woman retorted.
According to the police, the woman returned to her vehicle and dialed 911 to report the collision and obtain her insurance details.
According to Indianapolis Fox Station WXIN, dispatchers informed her police that they were on their way there and asked them to phone back if the other driver fled the site.
Then, according to reports, Middleton brandished a gun and threatened to shoot her and her child if she didn’t board his van. According to the affidavit, he placed his hand on the back of her neck as she started to argue with him over the pistol.

Middleton and the woman were reportedly seen fighting by a witness. According to reports, the victim screamed, “My baby!” By this point, additional drivers had pulled over and helped the woman.
According to reports, Middleton fled in the van, but before to their altercation, the victim had scribbled down his license plate. Shortly after, police in a nearby county apparently saw the car and discovered him hiding in a storage container.
According to court documents cited by WXIN, Middleton claimed that the woman had pulled out a gun on him and that he fled the scene because he was afraid “she was going to shoot me.” At the time of his arrest, no gun was found.
On a $500,000 bond, Middleton is still being held at the Morgan County Jail. May 21 is the date of his upcoming court appearance.
