Authorities in Berkeley County have reported the arrest and charges against two individuals following the seizure of two pounds of meth during a traffic stop on Monday.
Two individuals, Ryan Carl Newman, 35, from Summerville, and Preston Goldie Long, 35, from Ladson, face serious charges related to the trafficking of a significant quantity of methamphetamine, specifically 400 grams or more.
Long is now facing another charge related to a violation of probation from the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services.
Deputies from the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task Force initiated an investigation following a traffic stop involving K-9 units and a vehicle.

While deputies were engaging with the suspects, they observed signs of illicit behavior and proceeded to search the vehicle occupied by Newman and Long.
A search was not authorized, but a K-9 deputy performed a free-air sniff around the vehicle, resulting in deputies conducting a search of the vehicle afterward.
According to the deputy report, they managed to find around two points of suspected methamphetamine.
The two individuals are currently in custody at the Berkeley County Detention Center.
