Folsom police detained two adolescents after they led them on a high-speed chase in a stolen car and tossed a rim out the sunroof, striking a police vehicle in pursuit.
Around 4 a.m., cops received a report that two persons were spotted breaking into her automobile near Chan Court.
Shortly after the call, authorities reported that the vehicle was observed passing through the neighborhood.
When cops attempted to stop the driver, police said he drove off and reached speeds of more than 100 mph on the interstate.
While an officer was pursuing the vehicle, the Folsom Police Department reported that the passenger tossed a car rim out the sunroof. That rim then collided with the patrol car, rendering it undriveable.
The cop behind the wheel was able to safely stop the vehicle and was not hurt.
The driver of the stolen vehicle ultimately came to a halt after blowing a tire, but police said the two suspects fled before being apprehended shortly thereafter.
Police reported that the driver was 16 years old and the passenger was 15 years old. The passenger was treated at a hospital for a leg injury.
Both were booked into juvenile hall for reckless evasion and assault with a deadly weapon.
